MYST Post #5 Wolf on Wall Street

Wolf on Wall Street i can now say is one of my new favorite movies. This movie is based on a true story about a man named Jordan Baker, who in this film is played by Leonardo DiCaprio. This film is abut how Jordan Baker is a stock broker and how he starts up his own business on Wall Street and how he becomes on of the the best stock brokers in New York. The thing is he becomes rich illegally. Through out the film the FBI i trying to figure out if what he is doing is illegal or not. But in the mean time is and his co-workers are getting filthy rich. In about every other scene u see them doing drugs or having sex. It is a really descriptive movie. But i would give this movie an 8/10 because it is such funny movie and it was well directed. The only down side i had to this movie was that it was 3 hours long. 

This movie reminds me of the Great Gatsby because Leonardo DiCaprio also plays in that movie and it is about how he gets super rich and how he is trying to accomplish his American Dream to becoming successful. This is exactly how his character is portrayed in the Wolf of Wall Street. So as you can see he has recently been in films portraying the American Dream and how he is beaching successful. Some cinematic elements elements in this film that stood out to me was the style of the film. It had an older style to it but still very modern. The shots in this film were very interesting to me as well. One of my favorite shots were when Jordan was talking to his employees and he was give them motivational speeches to achieve and the camera would be close up to his face to show emphasis. 

My favorite scene in this film is when the FBI have a conference with Jordan on his yacht and when they are leaving he starts throwing 100 dollar bills at them because he has so much money that he doesn't even know what to do with it. It was funny because it made him look so much more superior to them and he showed that he didn't care what they thought about him because he was just so rich.

MYST Post #4 Friends with Benefits

The movie that i decided to watch over winter break is called Friends with Benefits by Will Gluck. This movie is about a guy  named Dylan, played by Justin Timberlake, gets a new job in New York and the first girl that he meets is Jamie, played by Mila Kunis, because she was the one that convinced him to take the new job. They start becoming best friends because Dylan realizes that he doesn't know anyone else in New York besides his co-workers. They both realize that they are done with relationships so they make a pact that they will only have sex but not have a relationship or have any feelings for each other. Of course by the end of the movie they both start realizing that they actually like each other but they don't want to make things awkward between one another so Dylan decides to just stop talking to her. Jamie realizes that she should have never began things with him, so they stopped talking all together. But of course by the end of the movie they both realize how much they love each other and they end up being together forever. This movie is one of those cliche romantic movies but i would give this movie a two thumbs up because it was very funny and who doesn't love Justin Timberlake. 

Through out the movie there went any complex camera angles, but in between scenes they did show a lot of the city of New York and LA. But for the most part they would do close up shots because their was a lot of dialogue throughout the film. But one of my favorite scenes was when Dylan and Jamie are up in the Hollywood sign in LA and they were talking about their feelings and then a police helicopter comes and tells them to get off the sign since no one is allowed up there but he was to afraid to jump so they had to rap him up in a aluminum foil bag and carry him down. It was a very funny scene because it ended up on the news and his sister was making fun of him. 

Mila Kunis is also in the movie Ted, and this movie reminded me of her character played in Ted because in the movie she is dating the main guy and they have been dating for a while but he eventually screws things up with her and she ends up hating him. But of course by the end of the movie they get back together and fall in love. They are both romantic comedies and i feel as if Mila Kunis usually plays in those types of films.
